Dorgard Spares

All about Doorgards and Dorgard Spares

In the United Kingdom, jamming fire doors is very much illegal and dangerous. It is illegal because there is a law against jamming fire doors and if you are caught violating this law, you will be liable for persecution. Jammed fire doors are also dangerous because a closed fire door can stop a fire in its tracks but if wedged or jammed open the protection given by the fire door is eliminated and the fire can spread throughout the building.

But now there is a simple and easy solution. Simple because with dorgards, you do not have to wedge your fire exit door to keep it open and for it to function fully you only need the continuous sound of a fire alarm for a few seconds and a fire alarm sound level of over 65 decibels. It is also easy because it can be easily mounted on fire doors and you don’t need to perform any complicated and expensive wiring installations because it is battery operated and you can easily buy doorgard spares in your favorite hardware stores.

Because of the cost and easy installation benefits of doorgard, it is now being installed in almost all buildings and establishments in the United Kingdom. This includes theaters, schools, work places, hospitals, and many other structures or areas where there is a large number of people present at any given time. Doorgard and doorgard spares also comply with all the relevant British standards, directives, and fire regulations in the United Kingdom. Dorgard spares are also available in stores whenever you need them.

Operating Instructions:

• Open the door to your desired ‘hold open’ position, or open the door fully
• Press the doorgard knob down using your hand or foot.
• While depressing the doorgard knob, pull the door gently in the direction of closing.
• Let go of the door. To manually release the doorgard:
• Push the door in the direction of opening. A doorgard can only be released by kicking the plunger knob if a floor plate is installed.
• Or lightly kick the doorgard plunger knob toward the door.

The doorgard is a proven cost effective way of holding your fire doors open without violating any existing laws. Just like any other fire safety equipment, it provides you with enough safety you’ll need in case of any fire emergency. It also works in tandem with other fire safety devices like fire and smoke seals, and exit stopper.

When buying a doorgard be sure to also buy doorgard spares in case you need to replace something in your unit. Also make it a point to check the contents of the doorgard spare box. It should include the following:

• One doorgard
• Four screws for fixing the doorgard
• One floor plate
• Four screws and rawl plugs for installing the floor plate
• A fixing template, user guide and a 'Do Not Use Card' and a Fire Door Sticker
• Two Batteries
